Listing Syndication commonly refers to the process a Participant takes to advertise their own listings on non-MLS websites. In other words, Listing Syndication is a method of advertising by which listing information from the MLS system is disseminated to other websites. With Listing Syndication, Participants can advertise or ‘syndicate’ their listing information to a wide variety of third-party websites, real-estate portals, mobile apps, or print publications to reach consumers searching for properties to buy.
Listing Syndication is a process by which Participants make decisions about advertising their own listings. Because of this, Listing Syndication is strictly limited to a Participant advertising their own listings. This means that the Syndication choices of one Participant does not impact the choices of any other Participant.
Listing Syndication is based on the principle of Participants managing their own listings. In other words, Participants can decide where they want to Syndicate their listings to. In this case, the Broker in Charge chooses which Syndication channels to send their listings to. This means that listings will only be sent to Syndication websites if the BIC has chosen to “opt in” to a particular Syndication channel.
